Matsuricon 2024 - Best Novice Craftmanship

The central piece of this look was the skirt. Using the Butterick 6692 pattern, I used 8 yards of satin to bring the skirt to life. The back features two half-hoops of boning for support and shape as well as slip-stitched panels to conceal the upper ruffle line.

To accomplish the specificities of her costume, I had to modify some preexisting patterns. For the blouse, I added a jabot collar and a newly drafted sleeve to Mood Sewciety’s Calendula Blouse. For the jacket, I added a lining and an interfaced bow to the Zinnia Jacket from the same site.

Matsuricon requires 70% of craftsmanship entries to be made excluding the wig and shoes, so I had to ensure the underclothing had to be majorly made as well.
